Daeyang Metal Hits Limit-Up Again, but Filings Cover Only a Shareholder Meeting

Seoul — Three stocks closed up 17% or more on October 16: Daeyang Metal (009190), Eco&Dream (101360) and Dynamic Solution (290660). KOSPI, the main exchange, rose 2.05% to 5,668.05. KOSDAQ, the tech- and small-cap-heavy market, rose 4.46% to 794.78, and a buy-side sidecar (a temporary halt on program buying) was triggered intraday. All three moves came from news reports and sector mood, not company filings.

Daeyang Metal rode a metals and steel theme to its second limit-up this week (no filing explains it)

Daeyang Metal recent price and volume

Daeyang Metal rose on a nonferrous-metal and steel theme rally, according to the reports. Maeil Business's market desk cited the theme this morning. Today Shinmun said steel stocks were strong on hopes for U.S. energy infrastructure investment. Maeil Shinmun reported on Oct 14 that steel shares rose after the White House mentioned Korean investment in an Alaska LNG project. The company itself has announced nothing that explains the move. The stock closed at 1,049 won on 27.6 billion won of trading value (276 eok) and has a market cap of 47.1 billion won.

According to DART (Korea's official disclosure system), the company filed corrected notices on Oct 13 for a shareholder-meeting convocation resolution and for setting the shareholder-register closing period. Steel and Metal News reported on Oct 14 that an extraordinary shareholder meeting was postponed by a month during a governance shake-up. The timing suggests a link, but neither filing explains today's rise. JoBPost reported half-year operating profit of 3 billion won on Oct 14. The past seven days of filings contain no conversion-right or other dilution notices.

The stock is up 86% from its Oct 12 close of 564 won, yet still 19.2% below its Sept 8 close of 1,299 won. Around 1:30 p.m. it was up 27.76%, using our intraday snapshot, and it closed up 29.99%. On Oct 15, foreign investors net sold about 737,000 shares while individuals net bought about 742,000. To judge whether the rally lasts, watch whether the postponed meeting's new date and agenda appear in a filing, and whether trading value stays near the 27.6 billion won seen today.

Eco&Dream hit the limit on a battery-sector rally and a record-shipment target report

Eco&Dream recent price and volume

Eco&Dream closed at the 30% daily limit as KOSDAQ battery stocks surged and reports on its shipment outlook landed. The Economist reported KOSDAQ reversed sharply today on biotech and battery strength. Newspim cited the company's goal of record precursor shipments next year. Financial News and Prime Economy had carried that outlook on Oct 15 as company comments, so it is a forecast, not reported results. The stock fell 11.62% on Oct 15 and came back to the limit within a day, on 15.0 billion won of trading value. Around 1:30 p.m. it was up 24.51%.

DART shows a securities issuance result (voluntary disclosure) filed on Oct 14. THE ELEC reported on Oct 15 that the company raised 35 billion won to buy raw materials. The two may be the same deal, but the filing title alone does not show the form of the issue. The 35 billion won is about 18% of the current market cap of 189.6 billion won. It is not today's reason for the rise.

To judge whether it lasts, read the Oct 14 filing for whether the issue is linked to shares and when any conversion or exercise can start. Also check whether the KOSDAQ battery rally carries into the next session.

Dynamic Solution rose on a rehab robot-hand demo and reported humanoid talks (no company filing)

Dynamic Solution recent price and volume

Dynamic Solution rose on news that it demonstrated an AI and brain-computer-interface rehab robot hand and plans to work with a humanoid-robot company. Blotter reported it hit the 30% daily limit on that news. The demo itself took place on Oct 15 at a world neurorehabilitation congress in Daegu, as Korea Economic TV and Edaily reported. The stock fell 8.93% that day. The partner is not named in the headlines. The company filed nothing in the past seven days.

The gain was 23.89% around 1:30 p.m., using our intraday snapshot, and narrowed to 17.66% at the close, so the stock did not hold the limit. Over five days it is up just 0.4% and it is 22.2% below its Sept 8 close. Dealsite reported this morning that the company invested 16 billion won and postponed a 3.5 billion won repayment, with its convertible-bond burden still heavy. On Oct 15, foreigners net bought about 56,000 shares and institutions about 18,000. Trading value was 8.6 billion won.

To judge whether it lasts, watch whether the company discloses the partner and contract terms. Also watch for any convertible-bond repayment or conversion filing.
