Disc Medicine: Phase 3 success lifts the stock 39% (offering reported after the close)

Disc Medicine recent price and volume

Disc Medicine rose because it said bitopertin met all primary and secondary endpoints in the Phase 3 APOLLO trial in EPP. In an 8-K filed Oct. 19 (Items 7.01 and 8.01), the company attached the press release and the webcast presentation. The stock closed at $78.93, up 38.9% from $56.84, and 30.5% over five sessions, on about $669 million in dollar volume. It had drifted from the high $60s to the mid-$50s over the previous month, so the gain versus the Sept. 15 close is 17.3%.

The news changed after the bell. StreetInsider and TradingView reported that the company launched a $350 million public offering of common stock and pre-funded warrants. Against a market value of about $3.03 billion, that is roughly 12%. No offering documents were among the Oct. 19 filings, so the terms are unconfirmed. Four Form 144 notices of proposed insider sales were also filed that day, and Stock Titan reported sales of 4,942 shares (through Merrill Lynch) and 115 shares (Atlas Venture Fund XII). The amounts are small.

The trial result is substantive, but it is a one-time event. To judge whether the gain holds, check where the offering is priced and whether an 8-K or prospectus confirms completion, and whether dollar volume stays near this level the next session.

Cleveland-Cliffs: Q3 results lift the stock 16%

Cleveland-Cliffs recent price and volume

Cleveland-Cliffs (CLF) rose 16.3% to $14.10 on stronger third-quarter results and a higher 2027 outlook. The company filed an 8-K (Item 2.02) on Oct. 19 with its Q3 news release. Quartz reported EBITDA of $612 million, ahead of estimates, and Yahoo Finance reported a raised 2027 EBITDA outlook. Barron's said the company expects tariffs to help. Dollar volume was about $1.25 billion, more than 15% of its roughly $8 billion market value.

The results are substantive, but much of the jump may come from the 2027 outlook, which is still an expectation. Reliance on tariffs also leaves it exposed to policy changes.

To see whether the move lasts, check whether one-time items are mixed into the results and whether the tariff backdrop behind the 2027 outlook holds. The 8-K text only attaches the news release and carries no figures.

Veradermics: male hair-loss data lift the stock 12%

Veradermics recent price and volume

Veradermics (MANE) rose 12.4% to $122.28 after it announced positive topline results from the Phase 3 Study 304 of VDPHL01. According to its Oct. 19 8-K (Items 7.01 and 8.01), the placebo-controlled trial randomized 536 men with mild-to-moderate pattern hair loss. The 8-K excerpt gives no efficacy figures. Press reports said Needham and Cantor Fitzgerald maintained or raised their views the same day.

The prior close of $108.82 was below the Oct. 9 close of $130.90, so even after the rise the stock sits under that high. Over five sessions it is down 0.1%, essentially flat, so this looks like a recovery of the prior drop. The stock also rose 14.1% on Oct. 8, for reasons that are not confirmed.

Next, check whether the efficacy-versus-placebo and safety figures the company releases match expectations, and whether dollar volume holds the next session.
